Keywords for effective seo

The key to effective SEO is knowing what keywords people looking for your products, services or information are typing on the search engine. Keywords form the foundation for all your SEO efforts.

Find optimum keywords, follow basic SEO guidelines, and when the search engine crawls your site, you will start to see it rising up the organic search rankings for those keywords, and it will result in increase in the level of targeted traffic at your site. Things to remember:

Analyze the Competition: It provides insight how competitors are doing in terms of search engine traffic for particular keywords.



Choosing effective keywords: Keywords in SEO can broadly be classified into two categories:

Short Tail keywords/ Highly Trafficked keywords - These are simple, one or two word phrases that are very general in nature and attract a large volume of individual search requests. These keywords are Highly Competitive, have High Cost Per Click and may have Low Conversion Rates as they tend to be quite general. For Example: from the Education sector might include “College” or “MBA College” or “Mumbai College.”

Long Tail keywords/Low Trafficked keywords: They are more complex queries that contain more words, and much more specific in nature. These keywords attract a much Lower Volume of Search Traffic than their short tail counterparts, but this long tail type queries account for the lion’s share of internet search traffic. They are Not so Competitive, often consist of four, five or more words, have a Lower CPC and can have a Higher Conversion Rates as they are quite specific. Example: “Best MBA College Mumbai” or ‘Top MBA College with Hostel Facility ”or“ MBA College Mumbai with good Placements

So, it’s advisable to take a balanced approach, and work with a mixture of both general short tail keywords and more specific long tail keywords as part of your organic SEO efforts, while focusing on highly specific long tail search terms is likely to yield a Higher Return on your Investment for PPC.
